About SCA

The Specialty Coffee Association is a brand new non-profit organization, which was formed by SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association of America) and SCAE (Specialty Coffee Association of Europe).
It represents thousands of coffee professionals, from producers to baristas from all over the world. SCA is committed to represent excellent quality coffee “from seed to cup”, build the sustainability, provide a platform to establish the standards of specialty coffee, and create the skills certifying module for industry professionals. SCA provides coffee knowledge educating, skills training, resources integration and business services to members.
The five SCA Subject Module is the new education system launched by SCA in 2017. The five modules are Barista, Brewing, Sensory, Roasting and Green Coffee. Each Module has three levels – Foundation, Intermediate and Professional. The new education system is the result of years of collaborative work between coffee professionals of both American and European specialty coffee community; it assesses and determines the ability of understanding specialty coffee industry. As a result, the certificates issued by SCA currently are the most valuable coffee professional certificates that are also global wise recognizable.
