Recommended: Introduction to coffee

Overview: Designed to introduce the novice into the core skills and equipment required to produce great brewed coffee. Course delivery detailing the information required to attempt the qualification, is expected to last a minimum of 6 hours instruction/practical time.

1. Definition of Strength versus Extraction
2. Basic awareness the importance of different coffee to water ratios
3. Aware that grind size affects the rate of extraction
4. Aware that the amount of time the water is in contact with the coffee will allow different quantities of solids to be dissolved
5. Aware that the correct water temperature is required
6. Awareness that water quality can affect brew quality and machine function
7. Aware of different filtering methods
8. Aware of range of different equipment used for brewing coffee
9. Understanding the impact of not cleaning coffee brewing equipment

Attendees will be at Bicerin Coffee Lab from 9:00am to 5:00pm each day.
