Description

Overview: The Brewing Foundation course introduces the learner to the different methods of brewing coffee. The learner will receive theoretical and practical hands-on instruction for a range of devices including automatic and manual gravity brewers, as well as other commonly used brewers within their local culture. Learners will also explore how to produce a tasty brew based on an understanding of the essential brewing elements and an analysis of their brew results.

1. Definition of Strength versus Extraction
2. Basic awareness the importance of different coffee to water ratios
3. Aware that grind size affects the rate of extraction
4. Aware that the amount of time the water is in contact with the coffee will allow different quantities of solids to be dissolved
5. Aware that the correct water temperature is required
6. Awareness that water quality can affect brew quality and machine function
7. Aware of different filtering methods
8. Aware of range of different equipment used for brewing coffee
9. Understanding the impact of not cleaning coffee brewing equipment

Attendees will be at Bicerin Coffee Lab from 8:30am to 6:00pm each day.

    I really enjoyed this course! It was not only educational, it was also really fun! During the course, we get to try all the different manual brewing equipment which is all available at the lab and we also get to analyze the brew each time. This course is very practical and useful for people who are interested in hand brewing or would like to improve their brewing skills.

    This is the class for people who likes coffee but do not know how to brew. Tutor is very funny and nice personality.
